Dutchess Kia was proud to be the headline sponsor of the Sparrow’s Nest Fall Finale Half Marathon & 10K that took place this past weekend! Many of the participants in the half marathon and 10K run options have raised more than $12,000 for families of caregivers and children diagnosed with cancer.
More than 500 people have participated in a Team Sparrow run since the nonprofit organization has started holding them in 2014. Over the years, we’ve also been a sponsor of many other runs & events that Sparrow’s Nest has held in the past because of how much they have helped our community since opening its doors in 2012.
What Does Sparrow’s Nest Do?
Sparrow’s Nest of the Hudson Valley was created with the simple idea of cooking for the families diagnosed with cancer. They provide 2 meals once a week to the families of caregivers & children who live within 35 miles of their Board of Health-approved kitchen, which is located on Route 376 in Wappinger Falls NY.
This includes households with members who are going through chemotherapy, radiation or surgery because of any type of cancer diagnosis. Sparrow's Nest feeds approximately 500 people in need each year, as well as providing supplies for back to school time, Easter baskets, gifts for holidays and much more.
The nonprofit has grown into feeding more than 1,500 people since the charity’s inception. With support from local business and private donations, Sparrows Nest have not turned away a single family fitting their mission statement.
